Known for their high technical quality and market relevancy, ASTM International standards have an important role in the information infrastructure that guides design, manufacturing and trade in the global economy. ASTM International strives to be the foremost developer and provider of voluntary consensus standards, related technical information, and services having internationally recognized quality and applicability that promotes public health and safety, and the overall quality of life; contributes to the reliability of materials, products, systems and services; and facilitates national, regional, and international commerce.

International Voluntary Service Activities

As the Third Party administrator of a USAID funded NetTel Africa program, the CBDD identifies and facilitates travel to Africa by volunteer regulators and university faculty with skills and experience in the areas of Telecommunications policy and regulation. Under a separate project NetTOM Malawi, the CBDD identifies and facilitates travel of volunteers from government and universities to support transportation planing and operations. Over the past 12 months approximately 25 US volunteers have been connected personally with African partners. Many more have been connected via the Internet.
