About GeoVisions

GeoVisions offers US volunteers once in a lifetime opportunities to volunteer as English teachers, or to work as conversation partners to help students, and sometimes managers or office staff to improve their English skills.

We also offer many opportunities to volunteer on health and medical projects in underdeveloped areas. We support many important sustainable community service projects working with handicapped children in very unique settings.

GeoVisions supports good causes worldwide by matching volunteers' skills with worthwhile projects abroad. This program is not supported by external funding but by the volunteers themselves. The fee you pay covers a number of key services, and means that GeoVisions never has to pass any costs on to the projects themselves.

International Voluntary Service Activities

GeoVisions has two tracks for global volunteers:

Traditional Volunteers (or Vollies) can choose to focus on medical and health projects or community service in orphanages and on women empowerment. GeoVisions sent 250 volunteers on these projects in 2008 and we expect to send 350 volunteers on these projects in 2009. These projects currently exist in Costa Rica, Peru, Argentina, Cambodia, India, South Africa and Thailand.

The Conversation Corps sends "conversationalists" to homes where a family wants to improve their English or a parent can obtain a much-needed work promotion by improving his or her English skills. The Conversation Corps also provides conversationalists to police departments and emergency aid and relief organizations abroad. Many of these conversationalists are teachers and former teachers, but that is not required to qualify for the Corps. GeoVisions sent 350 conversationalists to 15 countries in 2008 and will send 650 in 2009.

Volunteer Profile Summary

Almost all of GeoVisions' programs are open to everyone and this project in particular does not require certain skills or degrees. GeoVisions' volunteers have something meaningful and helpful to offer our very important projects.

GeoVisions is dedicated to providing a meaningful placement for anyone willing to volunteer, and we believe that the only skills required for most international volunteering is a willingness to learn and an open mind.

Our medical and health projects do attract nursing and medical students and The Conversation Corps attracts current full time teachers and educators as well as many retired teachers. GeoVisions programs are open to all age groups and professions.
