About Global Partnerships
Global Partnerships creates economic opportunity for people
living in poverty, helping them access the resources they need
- capital, healthier, education, and infrastructure - to generate
their own sustainable income and positive momentum in their lives.
Global Partnerships believes that business leaders and business-based
approaches are a key ingredient to making this happen. It identifies,
invests in and orchestrates business-like poverty alleviation
approaches in Central America. A central component of each of
these approaches is microenterprise-businesses started by making
small loans to people in poverty. Global Partnerships engages
the business community in becoming advocates for and supporters
of policies and programs that create economic opportunity for
the poor. The success of these solutions, and similar successes
all over the world, convince us that eliminating extreme global
poverty is within reach during our lifetimes. Founded in 1994,
Global Partnerships is based in Seattle with a program office
in Nicaragua.
International Voluntary Service Activities
Global Partnerships is looking for volunteers to help with extensive
support of the expansion of its Clear Vision Network initiative,
which aims to integrate microfinance with sustainable eye care.
They are also seeking help with business issues associated with
the expansion of an IT system developed by one MFI to other MFIs.
