About Globe Aware

Globe Aware, a nonprofit organization, currently offers volunteer vacations in Peru, Costa Rica, Thailand, Cuba, Nepal, Brazil and India.These short-term (1 to 2 weeks) adventures in service focus on cultural-awareness and sustainability, and are often compared to a "mini peace corps". All program costs, including the cost of airfare, are tax-deductible. Globe Aware is a 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt charity. Participants need no special skills nor do they need to speak any foreign language. Immerse oneself in a new culture. Enjoy befriending people in new and interesting countries and experience the reward of helping them on meaningful community projects.

International Voluntary Service Activities

The communities that work with Globe Aware choose the projects they feel are most important to develop. The work is varied and can encompass everything from helping build self-esteem to deaf orphans in Cusco, Peru, helping a rural Samba School in Brazil prepare their floats and costumes for Carnival, playing word games with Peruvian children to teach them English, planting trees in India, to painting a community center in Costa Rica, teaching basic computer skills to kids in Salvador, amongst many other activities.

Volunteer Profile Summary
At ypical volunteer is a very busy working American, usually between the ages of 25 and 55, and who often uses this experience to teach their children about other cultures by bringing them along. They come from all over the US with just about any racial and professional background. The youngest volunteer was 3 and the oldest was 82. No special skills whatsoever are needed.
