About Hôpital Albert Schweitzer
The mission of Hôpital Albert Schweitzer is to collaborate with the people in its Artibonite Valley as they strive to improve their health and quality of life. This organization provides health and economic development services to a population of 285,000 in Haiti's central Artibonite Valley, in collaboration with community leaders and other governmental and non-governmental agencies.
International Voluntary Service Activities
Hôpital Albert Schweitzer has benefited from approximately 100 volunteers over the past year comprising physicians filling in for full-time staff, resident physicians completing a tropical medicine term for their training, and specialists providing additional services over what is normally offered. There are also work teams and individuals with other expertise who volunteer at HAS.

The hospital also receives skilled laborers including carpenters, plumbers, engineers, and people with administrative or finance skills. Many speak French and/or Creole, the native Haitian language. Volunteers work in many divisions of the organization: the hospital, community health, community development, and the physical plant division. |
