About Islamic Medical Association of North America
The Islamic Medical Association of North America (IMANA) is a 501(c)3 organization based in Lombard, Illinois. We are an association of doctors located all across the United States and Canada. Founded in 1967, the mission of IMANA is to provide a forum and resource for Muslim physicians and other health care professionals, to promote a greater awareness of Islamic medical ethics and values among Muslims and the community-at-large, to provide humanitarian and medical relief, and to be an advocate in health care policy.
International Voluntary Service Activities
IMANA's humanitarian arm, IMANA Relief, applies a three-tiered approach to providing relief to disaster zones and international zones in dire need of medical service. These include providing medical supplies and equipment as needed, specific long-term projects aimed at rebuilding disaster areas and developing countries, and our Medical Volunteers initiative.
IMANA Relief deploys physicians and allied health professionals in a short-term capacity to affected regions around the world to deal with either acute or chronic medical situations. IMANA has led medical relief teams to various regions in partnership with sister organizations in over 30 countries, including Pakistan and Indonesia.
IMANA also works with partner medical organizations around the world to provide first-hand medical education and help to implement new breakthroughs in medicine around the world.
