About International Association of Plumbing & Mechanical Officials (IAPMO)

Founded in 1926, The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO) is a nonprofit association dedicated to the protection of the public·s health and safety through the development and maintenance of the Uniform Plumbing Code, Uniform Mechanical Code, and related educational programs. Membership in the association is open to anyone who has an interest in promoting safe and efficient plumbing and mechanical installations. IAPMO members are located in over 40 U.S. states and in many foreign countries including Canada, Japan, New Zealand, Mexico, and Saudi Arabia. IAPMO develops the Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC) and the Uniform Mechanical Code (UMC), the world·s only ANSI-accredited plumbing and mechanical codes.

The IAPMO Group includes IAPMO, IAPMO Research & Testing, Inc., IAPMO Testing and Services, LLC, and IAPMO Evaluation Service, LLC. IAPMO Research & Testing is the world·s leading third-party listing agency for plumbing and mechanical products and provides a comprehensive product listing program carefully designed to meet the needs of manufacturers, inspectors and the general public while providing for innovation in new product development. For more than 40 years, IAPMO R&T·s marks of conformity have been recognized internationally (on four continents) as the strongest evidence of codes and standards compliance. Products are awarded an IAPMO R&T mark of conformity based on their ability to meet established standards and the requirements of the appropriate codes. Services include listing of plumbing products to ANSI/NSF 61 and registration services to ISO 9000 and ISO 14000 standards.

IAPMO Testing and Services, LLC provides a wide range of testing services to meet the diverse needs of manufacturers around the world. Testing services are available to US and Canadian standards to obtain IAPMO R&T marks of conformity. Product testing by IAPMO Testing and Services is recognized and accepted by all leading listing and certifying bodies and other organizations including IAPMO R&T, ASSE, City of Los Angeles, SAI (QAS), US Department of Energy, US Federal Trade Commission, Commonwealth of Massachusetts, State of Texas, and the California Energy Commission. IAPMO Evaluation Service is the newest member of the IAPMO Group and provides building evaluation services pertaining to the Building Construction and Safety Code NFPA 5000.

International Voluntary Service Activities

Approximately 5 IAPMO employees serve as volunteers on various international standards developing and conformity assessment committees including committees under the auspices of the American National Standards Institute and the World Plumbing Council.
