About Jagriti Foundation

The Jagriti Foundation supports the empowerment of women by working with women's organizations around the globe to facilitate international cultural exchanges and cross-cultural learning. Jagriti aims to:

  • Awaken and enhance understanding and respect for different ways of life
  • Awaken and expand the potential of women to make a difference in their lives and the lives of others
  • Improve the quality of life for women globally
  • Share knowledge and resources with women throughout the world

International Voluntary Service Activities

Jagriti programs center on collaboration with grassroots women’s organizations in developing countries of Africa, Asia, Latin America and Eastern Europe. These organizations are dedicated to strengthening the position of women in their societies through income generation, women's rights and legal change, access to health, education, agricultural improvement and other activities. The Jagriti Foundation works directly with these women’s organizations in ways that support their own goals and objectives. Jagriti believes that women's organizations, within their own cultures, know best how to proceed.

The Foundation's programs aim to support their efforts by creating bridges between women in different parts of the world. Bridging Worlds provides the opportunity for women to step outside their own countries and cultures by volunteering to work with a Women's Organization for a period of one to six months. Bridging Worlds is open to all women 20 years of age and older. As part of the Jagriti Foundation mission to further and support the empowerment of women Bridging Worlds aims to:

  1. Create bridges between individual women and women's organizations
  2. Provide opportunities to share knowledge and skills with other women
  3. Awaken and enhance understanding and respect for different ways of life
  4. Awaken and expand the potential of women to make a difference in their own lives and the lives of others.

An important component of the Bridging Worlds Program is to match the skills and interest of the volunteer with the needs and work of the host Women's Organization. In order to make the matches, a comprehensive application and selection process will be completed. It is therefore important to note that not all applicants may qualify for placement.
