About Lumiere Medical Ministries
Lumiere Medical Ministries is a non-denominational, non-profit mission established in 1987. LMM's mission is to serve the health needs of the Haitian people in the name of Jesus Christ. Ministering to these great needs (Haiti is the poorest country with the lowest health status in the western hemisphere) gives an open door to minister to their spiritual needs as well.
Lumiere is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt corporation registered in North Carolina. LMM does not own institutions and projects. It provides financial assistance, long-term missionaries, procurement of supplies and equipment, and a regular rotation of expatriate doctors, nurses, technicians and work teams who work in Haiti for varying periods of time. Anyone interested can find out about opportunities by contacting the LMM office. Christians from a broad spectrum of denominations have been involved in both short term and long term assignments.
All patients are treated without regard to race, religion or financial capability. Non-indigent patients are charged for treatment and prescriptions but rates are set against a sliding scale according to ability to pay. In addition to our own projects and programs, several U.S. organizations also send donations through LMM in order to support programs they have selected in Haiti.
International Voluntary Service Activities
LMM sends volunteers as often as there are volunteers to send. LMM serves three locations - Port au Prince, Les Cayes, and Bonne Fin, Haiti where volunteers can be used. LMM needs volunteers for medical, education, and work teams for construction, electrical, etc.
