About Project Sub-Sahara/Ghana

Project Sub Sahara (PSS) is a partnership between the Ghanaian Diaspora and Ghana. By identifying and recruiting Ghanaian professionals and volunteers, skill and expertise sharing can be made readily available for engagement to include capacity building programs particularly in health and education.

We facilitate information services and administrative and management support for Ghanaian Diaspora professionals seeking to contribute their knowledge and skills to the development of Ghana. Many in the Diaspora groups are already accomplishing this on a personal or small-scale level, often interest-based, sporadic, uncoordinated and unmeasured (in terms of impact) ways. Project Sub Sahara’s involvement would help build scale-appropriate contacts for volunteers to have greater and consistent impact.

International Voluntary Service Activities

We have sent various personnel to Ghana on very limited basis to help with schools in the past. PSS currently has a health education program operating in Ghana. Future plans include using volunteers from the health sector in particular to provide virtual support to doctors on the ground or by visiting Ghana for a 2 week period and helping in a hospital. Our goal is to attract 20 volunteers a month.
