TechnoServe is a non-profit international business development
organization with 36 years of experience helping entrepreneurial
men and women in poor rural areas of the developing world to build
businesses that create income, opportunity and economic growth
for their families, their communities and their countries. TechnoServe
is a provider of strategic management and marketing services,
including market research, market linkages, business plan development,
financial and commercial linkages, supply chain management and
operational consulting.
International Voluntary Service Activities
The purpose of TechnoServe's Volunteer Consultant program is
to help TechnoServe fulfill its mission of assisting entrepreneurs
to grow businesses and create economic growth in rural areas of
Africa and Latin America. Through this program, highly qualified
consultants or industry experts are placed into TechnoServe country
programs. Volunteers work closely with teams of TechnoServe Business
Advisors to provide business development services to clients.
A typical volunteer assignment lasts from two to six months. Past
projects have included:
- business plan development
- market research
- industry analysis
- feasibility assessment
- strategy development
- detailed financial analysis
- development of offering documents
In 2004, TechnoServe has placed 43 volunteers in 9 African and

Profile Summary |
|
Two to five years of experience with top-tier management
consulting firm, investment banking firm, or 10-plus years
of agribusiness industry experience. Experience in business
problem solving, strong analytical and/or financial modeling
skills, international exposure, strong team player, evidence
of ability to take on leadership roles. Strong Spanish a
must for positions in Latin America; Portuguese a bonus
for positions in Mozambique.
