The most effective way for the American public to assist relief efforts is by making cash contributions to humanitarian organizations that are conducting relief operations. Information on identifying humanitarian organizations that are accepting cash donations for their efforts in Peru is available by calling the Center for International Disaster Information (CIDI) at (703) 276-1914 or visiting http://www.cidi.org. President George W. Bush presented Kay Hiramine with the President's Volunteer Service Award at a ceremony honoring Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. The search engine makes it easier for skilled Americans to volunteer overseas. Just select an interest category and click "Find Opportunities Now".
